Wrestling at Home in Richardson

Richardson is where Mustang Elite Wrestling was born, and J.J. Pearce High School is where every practice, every rep, and every breakthrough happens. Families in Canyon Creek drop off their kids and pick them up on Coit Rd — there is no commute involved. The CityLine development and the UTD campus have brought thousands of active families into Richardson, and many of them are discovering competitive youth sports right here in RISD.

Our venue at J.J. Pearce puts Richardson wrestlers on the same mat where they may one day compete as high schoolers. Pearce, Berkner, Richardson HS, and Lake Highlands all feed from the same RISD pipeline — starting your wrestler with Mustang Elite is an investment that compounds as they grow through the district.

Head coach Coach Rick Ibarra runs every session with the belief that wrestling builds character before it builds trophies. The club is USA Wrestling affiliated and teaches folkstyle wrestling, the dominant style in Texas scholastic competition.

RISD Schools & the Pipeline to High School

Richardson ISD is one of the most wrestling-friendly districts in North Texas. RISD high schools compete in UIL and all four feeder high schools — J.J. Pearce, Berkner, Richardson HS, and Lake Highlands — have active wrestling programs. Starting your athlete in K–8 club wrestling with Mustang Elite gives them years of technique and competition experience before they ever set foot on a high school roster.

Families in the Heights Park and Cottonwood Heights neighborhoods are often surprised to learn that elite-level coaching exists right in their backyard. You do not need to drive to Frisco or Allen to find quality youth wrestling in the Dallas area — it is right here on N Coit Rd.
