Murphy to Richardson — Two Routes, One Destination
Murphy occupies a unique spot in Collin County — it borders Plano to the west, Sachse to the east, and Wylie to the north. This geography gives Murphy families two practical routes to J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson. The first is the President George Bush Turnpike westbound, connecting seamlessly to Coit Rd and the Pearce campus. The second is driving west through Plano on surface streets like Murphy Rd/Renner Rd to Coit Rd, then south into Richardson — a route that avoids the freeway entirely.
Murphy is a Plano ISD community, which means Murphy middle schoolers and future high schoolers will eventually feed into Plano ISD programs. Plano ISD high school wrestling is competitive, and club wrestling at Mustang Elite gives Murphy athletes a significant head start. The folkstyle technique our coaches teach at J.J. Pearce maps directly onto UIL scholastic competition.
Mustang Elite does not have a Murphy facility — all practices are at 1600 N Coit Rd, Richardson, TX 75080 — but the drive from Murphy is one of the more straightforward trips among the communities we serve.

A Small City with Big Athletic Ambitions
Murphy has a tight-knit community culture that translates well into a team sport like wrestling. The city's youth sports ecosystem relies heavily on clubs and travel organizations because Murphy's small population means the city itself does not host large recreational programs. Mustang Elite's nonprofit model — consistent coaching, USA Wrestling affiliation, community-first pricing — is exactly what families in a city like Murphy look for.
Coach Rick Ibarra has built Mustang Elite since 2019 around year-round athlete development. Murphy wrestlers who join in elementary school can grow through the program all the way to 8th grade, compiling years of folkstyle reps before ever suiting up for Plano ISD. The Mustang New Year Classic is a highlight event where Murphy wrestlers often get their first taste of in-house competition.
Nonprofit Fees in a Collin County Market
Collin County club sports can be expensive — $90–$200+ per month is not unusual for for-profit programs in Plano and surrounding cities. Mustang Elite Wrestling is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 84-1770885). Our fees are structured around what it costs to run quality instruction at J.J. Pearce HS, not around extracting margin from families. See the registration page for current season pricing.
Plano and Sachse Neighbors
Murphy's neighbors — Plano to the west and Sachse to the east — also send wrestlers to our Richardson program. If friends or teammates from those cities are curious, point them to our Plano location page or Sachse location page. The more Collin County families who join, the stronger our team becomes. Check the schedule and reach out via the contact page to arrange a first visit.
