Mission & Values
Our Mission & Nonprofit Commitment
Mustang Elite Wrestling exists to train Richardson-area kids in wrestling while building the character, confidence, and fitness that serve them for life — and to do it at a price every family can afford.
Mission Statement
Our mission is simple: train K–8 boys and girls in the sport of folkstyle wrestling while building the discipline, sportsmanship, and self-confidence that carry them far beyond the mat. We believe every child in the Richardson area deserves access to high-quality athletic coaching regardless of what their family can afford.
Wrestling is one of the most demanding and rewarding sports a young person can pursue. It builds physical strength, mental toughness, problem-solving under pressure, and a work ethic that translates directly into academics and everyday life. Our job is to deliver all of that in a safe, welcoming environment — and to keep the door open for every family who wants it.
Our 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Commitment
Mustang Elite Wrestling is the public-facing name of the Richardson Mustang Wrestling Club, a federally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 84-1770885). We have operated under this structure since 2019.
What does nonprofit status mean for your family? It means the club does not exist to generate profit for owners or investors. Every dollar we collect in program fees goes directly back into the wrestlers — into coaching, equipment, facility costs, and USA Wrestling sanctions. There are no shareholders. There is no margin being extracted. The mission is the business.
For eligible donors and sponsors, contributions to a 501(c)(3) organization may be tax-deductible. Families and businesses interested in supporting the club financially should consult a tax advisor regarding their specific situation. To learn how to give, visit our donate and sponsor page.
The Richardson ISD Pipeline
One of the most distinctive aspects of our program is the direct pathway it creates into Richardson ISD high-school wrestling. We teach folkstyle wrestling — the style used in scholastic competition across Texas and the United States — which means every skill a Mustang wrestler learns is exactly the skill they will use when they join a high-school team. The RISD high schools we directly feed include:
- J.J. Pearce High School — where Mustang Elite practices and hosts the annual Mustang New Year Classic tournament
- Berkner High School — serving the northeast Richardson community
- Richardson High School — serving central Richardson families
- Lake Highlands High School — serving the Lake Highlands area to our south
This pipeline matters. A wrestler who trains with Mustang Elite through middle school arrives at high-school tryouts with years of fundamentals, competition experience, and the mental framework of a trained athlete. Coaches at every one of these programs know our athletes come prepared.
It also matters for the community. When a youth club and its feeder high schools share a style, a philosophy, and often a facility, it creates continuity that benefits the entire RISD wrestling ecosystem. We are invested in the long-term health of scholastic wrestling in this district.
Community & Affordability
For-profit youth sports programs can be expensive — fees in the range of $90 to $200 or more per month are common in the Dallas metro. For many families, that cost alone is the reason a child never tries a sport. We believe that is a preventable outcome.
As a nonprofit, Mustang Elite Wrestling is structured so that affordability is built into our model, not an afterthought. We do not compete with for-profit clubs on flashy branding or aggressive tournament schedules. We compete on value: the best wrestling instruction, the strongest character development, and the most accessible price point in the Richardson area. Visit registration to see current season fees.
We also actively seek community support — from local businesses, parents, and Richardson-area residents who believe in giving kids a fair shot at sport. Sponsorships and donations help us offset costs for families who need assistance and fund travel and gear for tournament-level athletes.
