Mustang Elite Wrestling

Head Coach & Founder

Rick Ibarra

Rick (Richard) Ibarra is the head coach and founder of Mustang Elite Wrestling — the Richardson Mustang Wrestling Club — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit he established to give Richardson-area kids an affordable, welcoming place to learn the sport of wrestling.

Coach Ibarra leads the club's K–8 program out of J.J. Pearce High School, where the team practices and hosts USA Wrestling–sanctioned events including the annual Mustang New Year Classic. His coaching focus is fundamentals first: stance, motion, level changes, and the discipline that carries over from the wrestling room into the classroom and into Richardson ISD high-school programs.

Above all, Coach Ibarra is known for a beginner-friendly, character-first approach. Most Mustang wrestlers arrive with zero experience, and the club's mission is to build confidence, fitness, and good sportsmanship in every athlete — not just to chase medals.
